Perma.cc

In 2014, the Library Innovation Lab (LIL) developed Perma.cc as a web archiving tool that allows authors, editors, or publishers of a work to make a copy of the web pages they cite.

A reader can follow the new Perma.cc URL to find the web page affiliated with the citation, even if the original page disappears or changes, a problem known as link rot.

Today, two-thirds of all academic law libraries in the country use Perma.cc. In April 2016, the Institute of Museum and Library Science awarded LIL a National Digital Platform grant to make the tool available to other scholarly communities and the commercial sector.

Staff have presented at a number of academic conferences, where they share these promotional items and broaden the network of Perma.cc partners.
